ORIGINAL: vsop

I have on order a 3.5" 900hp capable alumin DS for my stang. The diffrence will be amazing.
You get rid of a huge amount of weight as well as drop parasitic loss from removing the 2 piece joint..

Also looking on jegs site they list that for a TKO tranny setup, might want to make sure that its for the stock tranny and not a TKO 500/600 swap
Yeah vsop, that Lakewood driveshaft has a yoke for lateral movement. Wrong shaft forthe Tremec 3650. I just got my 3.5" aluminum driveshaft today fromthe Drive Shaft Shop (ordered it through Lethal). I got the 600 HP version. I'm assuming that's who's making your 900 HP version? I weighed it and it comes in a 16.5 lbs which is the same as the 4" diameter shaft, but my weight was with the adapter plate bolted on it so the shaft may actually weigh 1/2 to 1 pound less that the 4" one. The shaft is a real nice piece of work. I might find time to install it this weekend along with some adjustable LCAs and some Steeda UDPs...but that is a lot of work and I'm pretty lazy now that winter is here!
Here's some pics for those of you unfamiliar with this shaft.

No, I think that this shaft only works for a manual trans. I could be wrong, but I don't think this company makes one for autos. Click on this link and you will see the listing of all the different type of shafts they make for the 05+ Mustang. Looks like they are all for manuals. Sorry.

Sorry, forgot to tell you about the price. I think it retails for $699, but I got 5% off of my entire order from Lethal since it was a Holiday discount. I also ordered some Grantelli front and rear driveshaft loops (slighty cheaper than the BMR version) and they took 5% off of that too. So, I paid about $664 for the shaft itself. The 4" diameter shaft used to retail at $699, but it looks like they lowered the price for that one to $649.

thanks!
i haven't tried the nitro yet. i've got a pint sitting in my garage just waiting for the time when i get close enough to that 11.99 that i just need a little something extra. i have a snow meth/water injection kit that i'll try it in first. i don't foresee any big issues since i'm not going to get crazy. snow says 10-20hp by adding 8oz. to 2qts. of meth/h20 for an n/a motor. gains with s/c cars are as high as 50hp adding the go-go juice but tuning is very critical. you must be rich. any lean condition with f.i. cars causes big booms. n/a cars are much more forgiving especially when running less than 10% of the total fuel volume. all in all i think it may be worth that extra tenth if so needed. once i get another shortblock ready i'll play with it aggressively. a 25% mixture should lead to 50+hp gains in an n/a engine.
and technically it's not a power adder[sm=smiley14.gif]
oh yeah this is a driveshaft thread....
the ranger conversion seems to work well with autos and manuals.

to 06hoss.....i looked up the link to the driveshaftshop you mentioned. they only have a few of the one piece shafts available for the 05 and up gt 6spd 4.6 engine. looking for one to replace my factory piece but not because of hi hp (like you 600+hpers) just because i am upgrading and want to do it right. also looking at throatier exhaust system. still new to mustang world. love the car though! 6 months old and i have almost 19K miles on it. this thing is made to drive not look pretty, although it does look nice. thanx to all. i am learning a lot here. cheers

no problems with stock height or lowering down to about 1.5" but after that the pinion and driveshaft anglesneed to be corrected since the lowering messes up the geometry.
