Hey people. Looking for a little help. I own a 06 gt vert. auto trans. I went to buy gears for it 3.73 and my gear guy said no way go with the 4.10 gears. I told him i drive it everyday on the freeway at about 80 mph and he said they would be fine. Needless to say i left with no gears. Can anyone tell me what your using in your auto trans cars. I read on here before and all the auto guys were runnin 3.73 gears are you now running 4.10's. many thanks.

I am running 3.73 gears in my auto and like them fine. I would not recommend 4.10’s if you do a lot of highway driving. With my setup I am at 2500 at 75 mph which is a good RPM, if I had 4.10’s I would be at 2800 and about 3100 at 80 mph. If you want to get a feel for 4.10’s just hit your overdrive off when you are at highway speed and you will be running close to what 4.10’s would feel like.

if you can survive with out overdrive, go with 5.22s, cause that is what it it equal to

there is no reason to go any taller then 4.10s for a DD the 4.6s are SOHC modular motors, they rev to make power these arent the muscle cars of the 70s, they arent the 5.0s of the 80s

i had 3.73's in mine for a while and they were great. 80mph @ 2600rpms. now with 4.30's 65mph @2600rpms. my car ran about the same 1/4 mile times with the 3.73 vs. 4.30 gears although now i run more mph....it's a little backwards but i guess it just put the rpms in the sweet spot when the converter locks in. best e.t. with 3.73's was 12.62@106 then with that same tune and 4.30's i went 12.62@110.2 best. now i have a killer tune and can take advantage of the steeper gears 12.29 at 110.4 N/A so far.

I went with 3.90 Motive gears not bad but if I was to do it again it would be 4.10s. 3.73s is not enough gear for our high reving motors your just not in the power band quick enough.
