Default S197 3650 issues

What's up everybody, I was wondering if anyone was having issues with the 3650 trans in their s197. I've found hundred of pages of complaints on other forums but only for 01-up sn95 mustangs. Has Ford found the fix [sm=happy046.gif]or are these transmissions still on the fritz [sm=noooo.gif]? Please reply in either case...also who's using what for trans fluid (dm3, mercon v, synchromax, etc.) and how's that going; anyone at the Ford dealer saying anything about the different fluid voiding the warranty?

Thanks

Richie[sm=feedback.gif][sm=gears.gif][sm=thanx.gif]

p.s. - also how often are guys planning to change your manual trans fluid?

[sm=rant.gif] 65 viewings and 2 replies...come on! Please post even if your trans works like a swiss clock! Also trans fluid preferences, warranty concerns regarding fluid types and planned drain and refill intervals!

Mine works just fine. Plan on draining and refilling at 30k with Amsoil ATF

Tranny works fine, butdrivetrain freeplay sometimes causes clunking noises if I engage the clutch too quickly when shifting.

my 2nd synchro is hurt...powershifting at redline not good to do- after 2nd day at the dragstrip, theres been several times in normal driving that it just dont want to go into 2nd- feels like '2 clicks' as it goes in, didnt do that before.

day before going to the strip a few weeks ago, figured I'd try the royal purple stuff- never been much of a believer, but heard a lot of good things- gotta agree, the tranny works better- 2nd freed up a little, but its still *almost* grinding or wont go into second if pulled hard at over 5500, moderate quick shifting(still barking tires) it usually goes, just once in a while it feels like it hits the gate or something and wont go- and if pulling too hard you can feel a kind of grind as it engages- like the gears *almost* synch, but not quite...its only done that twice to date, both times at the dragstrip, both times second felt worse afterwards...a few more its gonna be toast. shifting hard at 5k, it seems ok, and the car seemed to run better anyways- maybe coincidence, but at 5k shifting, got a 13.78, best before was 13.91 shifting @ 6k...

guess (with my shifting anyways), 6k shifting not a good idea

Thinking about getting a sparetranny from newtakeoffs.com, then get this one beefed up- if I do, would run the royal purple from the gitgo...seems to make it work freer, might help it last a bit longer- at least in abusive conditions. dont know about warranty, but if a synchro is burned they'll probably know its been powershifted, or someone kept pulling on the shifter after it was in gear or pulling in too low of a gear at too high a speed to tear it up...either way probably would not be warranty anyways.
