any NA guys miss their tall gears?
FI guys get lost...
....okay, my 3.55 to 4.10 swap is scheduled for this weekend (mentioning it right there probably just jinxed the install but anyway) and I'm looking forward to the end results...in my old fox-body, I resisted swapping from factory gearing to my 3.73s, but a funny thing happenned after the swap...I actually started winning races.
My question is, do any of you NA guys miss your tall gears? The only reasons I can think of would be gas mileage, the sound of your exhaust at your tall-gear rpm vs. short-gear rpm, or those nice, long, lazy burnouts from a dig, the ones that go on and on in first gear because it takes so damn long to hit redline (and then when you do, you feather it a time or two, then finally hit second, lay some more strip, and bam fifty feet of rubber behind you)...I guess street-tire burnouts in 4.10s are just rip, rip, rip through the powerband? I guess I'll find out soon enough (jinx!)...

RE: any NA guys miss their tall gears?
I'm new to 4.10s, just got them last week and so far, i love them. They hum on decelso i'll be bringing the car back in next monday to have them either re-shimmed or have new gears put in altogether. Besides the hum, the performance increase is good and the sound of the exhaust is much better. The quicker the RPMs wrap up and get into higher gears, the quicker the exhaust note gets really deep and clean sounding.

sometimes I miss those longer 3rd gear pulls. I think if I had about 450rwhp, i could have lived with the 3.55's. I still have them sitting in oil just incase my HP jumps 150 over night. I must say i like slamming it into 4th though, still haven't tested them at the track yet.

I love mine. Eliminated all wheel hop, just have it tuned, cause your speedo will be off a good 10 mph. BTw, I average roughly 21-22 all in town with the gears/tuner/intake install. With the factory 3.55s my best was only around 20.

I don't see how gears eliminate wheel hop.
