Hi, 2006 V8 Auto Trans snaps into reverse and moves forward like the car is in third gear ? Car only has 14,000 miles Right front was wrecked. Any help out there would be great. Ralph

 

....I'm gonna try and get this straight. When you put th shifter in R, it moves forward as if it were in 3/D/whatever forward gear we want to refer to. When you say snaps though, do you mean it just does it by itself? And the car was in an accident wrecking the front passenger side. My guess is that whatever caused the damage to body, hit the car pretty hard and screwed up the tranny. Especially if the car was in D and in motion when it happened. Chances are the tranny got pwned. I dunno if the 5R55 uses a shifter linkage or if it's computer controlled, but if it's a linkage, that could also be the cause of the problem. Best bet is to visit a dealer or tranny shop.
