Default Performance difference with different octane tunes.

Has anyone ever compared the performance difference amongst the different octane tunes?

Do you guys just do the 93 tune because you might as well go big or go home, or is there truly a substantialy greater amount of power for that extra $.20-30 per gallon?

thanks

The best and most aggressive tunes require 91 or 93. I just wouldn't feel right putting anything less than 91 in my car with any kind of performance tune. The tune gets you better gas milage so the increase in price evens out .

Tune improves gas mileage? Well heck, maybe it is worth the premium.

Well I am not so sure how the gas octane can improve gas mileage.
Basically Octane is a measure of the gas to resist detonation, this allows you to run more agressive tuneswhich involve more timing advance and in consequence better performance. Also higher octane gas usually have more BTU's or caloric energy than lower octane does, and this is what leads to beleive that because lets say 93 octane gas have more caloric energy you need less fuel torunyour carat a given speed, however since about 75% of that energy is wasted as heat I personally doubt that you are going to see any noticeablemileage improvement by using higher grade gas but this is just my 0,02

You should in theory get better milage with a good tune, whatever octane it is. But you will get in it more often so you really wont see any difference.

As long as I continue to avg 20-21mpg on the highway, I'm fine.

i made a post about this a little while ago. it was more of my oppinion than fact. I drove with the 87 for a few months and noticed that after switching to the 93 tune a couple weeks ago, the 87 tune felt more "torquier" in the bottom end but under WOT the 93 def threw you into your seat.. I only got about 250miles out of my 93 octane tank compared to a typical 280 mile 87 octane tank and I didn't really punch it too often with the 93 tune. Now I'm running 89 gas with the 87 tune, timing advanced a little bit. Realistically, the 93 probably will yield better mileage and def more power but when you have the power, you can't help but step on the gas more often.
