Default 515 bucks for gear install labor?

called the stealership and they quoted a 6.5 hour job costing me 515 bucks. The original guy i talked to said a 3 hour costing under 300 bucks, but evidently they claim that was a misquote, i didnt get it in writing, so that sucks. Is 515 right? sounds way too high. I told them i had the gears and the bearing kit so i guess all i would need is the fluid. That seems rediculous, 515 bucks? And six and a half hours for a rear end swap? gotta be some mix up? Any one else offer labor prices and hours? Thanks
BTW im trying to install motive 3.90s

Why not give it a try,you may mention that you had a quote for 3 hours and wanted to check.

I paid 300, the dealership wanted $500, don't go to a dealership. You'd be better off at a high performance shop, preferably one that drag races at the local track and knows how to install gears.

Well, SLTS(service labor time standards) has the rear axle rebuild(including all new bearings & seals) rated at 5.5 hours. So take 5.5 hours & multiple it by whatever there labor rate is. Ours is $65 hr, so that times 5.5 hours is $360 roughly. Remember that this is through a Ford dealer. Also remember that all dealers have different labor rates, so that will make a difference.

I had two Installs done, both times the job was done in just under two hours. The cost for labor was $180. each time, and no issues with the install.
