Default Forced Induction Question

Which supercharger or turbocharger is the easiest to install for a DIY. Brand doesnt matter or highest hp, just something I can do myself. I have installed a Paxton kit on a 90 Mustang GT before and even did a head and intake swap on the same car. By the way my car is an 05 Mustang GT with the automatic transmission.

imo, you can easily do any of them.

easiest is a state of mind, just read the different
manuals and decide which one you can visualize
yourself doing.

i had a hard time choosing between the saleen VI, KB
& whipple....

I see you have the whipple, have you had any of the belt issues I keep reading about?

my belt does rub during WOT runs. it's one reason why
i don't recommend the whipple anymore, how
could i in good faith.....

choose for yourself, after doing research on the
subject.

would i personally buy it again, if i could
do it all over? yes.

good luck and you'll love which ever one
you choose.

How much tension is on your belt? I know you said you didn't get a 100mm idler pulley which they know include in the kit. Here's a picture that Dustin from whipple posted on M*dularfords.com. He said your tensioner should line up with the top bolt as shown.

here's the post. you'll have to change the zero to an O.

I looked closer at my belt today and no way is mine rubbing the alternator or anything on the engine side. The engine side of my belt looks brand new. Belt dust on the alternator or elsewhere can be caused by belt slippage. Do you ever notice the boost drop some at WOT? Anyway if any part of my belt is rubbing something it's the outer edge rubbing on a pulley. In this picture you can see the threads, not sure if they were like that all along or not, but the inside edge doesn't show any threads anywhere. I've been reading old posts about belt dust and even 200X cobra owners have belt dust from occasional slippage.

Also every post I come across about belt slippage, someone states that dayco sucks! You might want to call whipple or go to your local gates dealer and order the gates belt.

Another diss on the dayco.

What belt are you running? If it is the Dayco Poly Cog Gold Label, they are dusty as hell.

I'm going to put the gates belt on that wipple sent me. I bet all new kits come with the gates belt.

Hi killbee,

Saleen's is the easiest to install. You basically remove the intake manifold install the coolant pump and front mounted heat exchanger, wire and plumb, hook up the injectors and reinstall the new blower in place of the intake manifold and then flash the ECU and you are on your way. The Saleen is literally the easiest thing to install with minmal plumbing and electrical to deal with. Call BrenSpeed up and they will send you up to 540hp in a few boxes ready to install in a day or so.

HTH!
