Default Did Ford install the wrong gears in my car?

I had the local ford dealership install 3.73's yesterday. When I got home I was looking over the paperwork and saw the following part number listed:

5L3Z-4209 C

That's not the right one, is it? I looked it up online and it looks like it's the 3.73 ring and pinion out of an explorer or F-150. How could the possibly do that?

I'm a parts guy at Ford. Thats a Ranger number which is what they use to go to 373 or higher gears. Its a 8.8" rear they are the same as the Mustang

So there is no difference between that gear and the ones classified as the "Ford Racing Performance Parts" gears?

Thats not correct. The Ford Racing gears are better. Made to handle more power. The 373 Ford Racing gear in the cataloge says they utilize a Face Hob Process which features a single pass pinion tooth instead of the normal three pass. The part number for those are M-4209-F373N

how much did the gears cost you? If there are rather low in cost then they charged you for the actually gears they installed and you wont be able to complain much to them unless you specified you wanted M-4209-F373N installed

Never mind, I'm an idiot. I was looking at the different estimates. They installed the 4209-F373.
