Default gear choice axle ratio

Ok so I am finalizing on a new mustang GT after doing extensive research. The one the dealer had on the lot has the new standard 3.3 gear ratio in the MANUAL so I figure this will be my first upgrade. The question is

3.73 or 4.10gear? and why?

For me this will be a daily driver with about 30% around town and 70% highway. I want to uprdade to get that seat of the pants fell, but don't want to go so much I get gear whine and kill gas mileage.

Please weigh in if you have either of these gear options in your car.

Guys he said it is a daily driver with 70% highway driving AND he doesnt want to completely kill gas mileage....3:73's are what you are looking for...4:10's will rip through quicker but you will pay for it at the pump. 3:73's are the best all around everyday driver gear. 4:10s will be rough on the wallet if you drive everyday on the highway.

you might consider 3.90. but i know most people that buy mustangs arent really concerned that much about MPG, or we would have bought hondas.

Based on what the OP said, the sensible choice would be 3.73......

Thanks guys! I am not as much worried about the gas mileage as the driveability of the car. I do beleive based on the comments that the 3.73 will be better on the highway but the 4.10 will be more fun ripping through the gears. I am leaning to the 4.10 at this point.

I am on the highway quite a bit and am happy with 4.10s.I don't think it'sa sin to drive at 2500 rpm or slightly above. This small block can take it. IF mpg is a concern on a long trip, I just set the cruise control 5 mph slower. I'm glad you're considering the 4.10s, I think you'll find they are a good match for the car. I think they actually enhanced day to day driveability.
