Default Muffler options

I like the sound of my 'new' (12k mileage) stock 05 GT and the earlier 'Stangs, but this is the first pony car I've owned. Is there a muffler upgrade without going to a catback y-pipe system that will give me the real deep-throated roar - almost the same sound quality as nowbut quite a bit louder - along with a little more power as a bonus? I put Edelbrock Performers on my '89 TaurusSHO (after trying Flowmasters) and they sounded killer. They were just loud enough to cruise past the smokeys without a look, but when the pedal went down =VAROOM! Since I read that the exhaust system tubings are already mandrel bent, I don't think I need a catback setup. I am already having a Vortech supercharger installed that's the one for the stock 05 GT engine and runs at about 8-10 psi. This should be enough power for me. My GT is an automatic as my left hip/knee can't take rush hour shifting anymore. Any tips or info greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do a search on mufflers here & the other Mustang forums. Great variety of opinions on exhaust sounds. The newer 3 valve motors won't produce the same deep sound as the 'cammer' engines. Also, with the placement of the mufflers on the 05 & up Mustangs, there is a 'drone' issue to put up with as you install louder mufflers.
Check out the GTA's (made by Supreme) here;
http://www.ninosport.com/Mustang/200...-GT-Axle-backs
They are the mufflers installed on the Shelby GT-350's & GT-H's
Louder & deeper than stock, no drone but wake up when you open it up.

Thanks for the reply and info. Is this the muffleryou mean? I assume the price is per muffler, not a pair.

I'm not set up to installthemat home, but I wonder if it's better to order/buy them myself then take them to the local small-town muffler shop (good rep) to install - or have thatshop order them for installation. Maybe they can get a better wholesale deal on price and in return do a very nice installation. Some of the 'nickel-dime' welders around here would smack 'em on any old way - I've seen some pretty bad jobs. These mufflers look like the real deal per the ad.

Yes, those are the GTA's. The price is for 2 mufflers, not just 1. You can install those yourself in the garage or drive. Doesn't require jacking or a lift to install axle-backs. The extra room would help, but not necessary.

I just put the Mac mufflers on my 06 GT in my garage about 2 weeks ago and love them. They are alot louder than stock and very deep. They cost me about $320 on Brenspeed.com. They came in 2 days and were easy to install. definetly worth it. Check out the vids. (vids dont do any justice for real life)

I have the Magnaflow stainless on mine. I had the smaller "louder" ones at first, but they were way too noisy when cruising, so I got the larger ones. Sweet tone when cruising, and they sound really good when u open it up. I hate Flowmasters, and these sound more like the old school Turbo mufflers.

Most people on here bag on flowmasters. Look if you dont believe me. I had flowmasters; they were fine. Not loud enough. I eventually put on SLP loudmouth exhaust. Love them! Besides SLP I would recommend a Mac Axelback.
