Muffler options
I live in a small town where part of it is incorporated so we have a police department and part of it is unincorporated with a sheriffs department. At any given time of day, some of these guys are just scratching their butts lookingfor a reason to give someone a ticket. So I want something to cruise soft and rev loud -it's hard to decide withso manychoices.I don't want Flowmasters, heard them around the county. I was getting close to dropping the dimeon the GTA mufflers. I actually think the Mustang already has a good mandrelbent exhaust - just the mufflers are too restrictive and quiet. So I don't want an axelback system, just the mufflers. Thanks for all the replies.

When you buy mufflers for these cars, you are buying axle backs. The mufflers are located behind the rear end, hence the term axle back. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with the Ford GTA's for the reasons you have listed. They are quiet while cruising, and have a nice throaty rumble under acceleration. It takes 1 to 2 weeks of driving to break them in. They get slightly louder with age, but have no drone. While just cruising, they don't draw too much attention.
I have the FRPP Stinger Axle backs. I lovehow they sound, nice deep rumble at idle, and when i get on it they are loud. But not as loud as the boomtubes. A friend of mine has the FRPP GTA on his 06 GT and they sound good too. If I remember correctly i only paid $450 for my FRPP Stingers, that includes shipping. This is the website i got them from lightningforceperformance.com, shipping only took a couple of days.
