how well does the stock 5 speed hold up? in terms of longevity,handling alot of hp and such?
I guess I am a little leary about taking advice ontrannysbut I'll ask anyways.I have read about the srt-4s tranny being bullet proof and handling as much as 450hp but then again it has failed many times in the past...3rd gear synchro problems,grinding,bad shift forks and crappy shift selectors.I have had it rebuilt once (3rd and all it's issues..now it's acting up again) the other issues looked at and have other parts fixed..costed me $4-4500 total in about 2 years) in spite of no more powershifting or abuse.

kinda curious about what were the common mishaps with the GTs 5 speed and common problems.Every car has it's faults but damn..tranny issuez are a biotch lol.
One of the main reasons to getting an auto is to avoid all of these issues..but then again if you want to play you have to play.

What kind of numbers are people putting down on the stock tranny without internal parts or failure of shiets?
