I don't like the idea of screws either which is why I was considering holding them in with green loktite. Maybe even put2 in each hole so one jams the other. Welding sounds good if I could find someone that was good with aluminum.

Whatever I come up with, I'll take pictures.

Dude, you need to just buy a used set of delete plates. You're asking for trouble if you do anything that you mentioned. If you patrol the FS/FT section long enough you'll find someone selling them for under $100.

I got tired of looking. Besides, it's not that hard to plug holes. Then again I've got a lathe and a mill at work I can use and I work on things that produce more heat and/or pressure than an engine. I figure if I can make something water tight to 7000' or install explosion proof equipment in high vibration areas, keeping a plug from falling out is simple.
