some people say 3.73s and some say 4.10s

It all comes down to your driving habits, if you spend a lot of time on the Interstate, you might want to check the current fuel prices before jumping in to the 4.10 Pool.........Although the waters fine in there.

Exile, do you have a manual transmission? If you do and you're that worried about gas mileage in town, you can always use 2nd to 5th gear instead of 1st through 4th for your in town driving with your 4.10s/4.30s. This will drop the torque multiplication of the gearing way back into the high mpg range up to 45 mph or so. (Avoid lugging the engine in low rpms) I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Go have fun!

You could try hidden option C 3.90 gears. It seems to me to be the perfect compromise. My driving is 60%city and 40% highway, so I think I am going to go with 3.90 gears myself.

So what would be the response of the automatic trans to the 4:10 gears? Wouldn't ithave the same effect as the manual trans? Then for gas mileage I could let it get into 4th and overdrive quickly without lugging the engine down. My GTtakes off fast, but I'd still like it a little quicker on the low end - and I don't think it's practical for the transmission's lifetime toberevving up very farin Low whileholding it with the footbraketo get a fast launch. There's two good 1/8 mile strips nearby for fun without competing with pro $$$ cars on the "name" tracks farther away.. and mine is a daily driver anyway.

'05 GT automatic with VortecV-2 SQ S-Trim supercharger. Charge cooler in the works.

An auto with 4.10's will cause the car to shift later than it normally does. If you want 4.10's in an auto, you have to reprogram the shift points.

Essentially, you play a dirty trick on your car.

would it be a good idea to put 4.10s in the car if i plan on boosting it?
