No if you plan on having anything over 400rwhp then 4.10's are going to be a waste. If you are planning to SC I would just stick with the stock gears.

would it be a good idea to put 4.10s in the car if i plan on boosting it?

Well the most popular gears are the FRPP ones and they don't make 3.90's. You can get Motive 3.90's but I have read that they tend to whine. Its not an easy decision. I chose just to save some money and stick withthe stock gears because I plan on getting a SC very soon.

I have 4.10 in my auto and I love them. I do 98% of all my driving in the city. To avoid the lugging feeling around town I drive with the OD turned off. I am also running 20" wheels which effectively lowered my ratio to about 3.90 due to the tire diameter. i dont know about having to reprogram the shift points though, mine seems to run strong and not shift any later than before. When I contacted Doug at B A M A Chips about needing a new tune with the addition of the 4.10's he said it was not necessary. Just make sure that I changed the ratio to correct the speedo.

Well if you have stock tires with 4.10's and over 400rwhp and rwtq I have no idea how you ever plan to use first gear again. Unless you plan on running DR on a daily driver. I've seen guys at the track on street tires with 4.10's and no SC that can't get traction. I'm sure its lightning quick though out of second and third.

what if the rear suspension was built up pretty good? would it help the traction issues?
