When I had my 99 Trans Am aftermarket coils were a waste of money due to the high quality of the factory coil.

Would like to read more about the ford coils though as it looks like you gain power due to a poor built OEM coil. I have heard mechanics talk about how many OEM Ford coils they have replaced.

I hear the Summit COPs are good. I have used MSD and Granatelli.
I would recommend the Granatelli because they are the highest voltage (60,000 volts). They also come with improved stainless connectors for the spark plugs that are a big upgrade from the springs used on stock type COPs. Granatelli sells a kit with just the connectors too but the hot coils are the thing that really makes the difference.

These are the Granatelli coil packs you want. The installation is about 30 minutes. These are a new version of these COPs.




I also ran the MSD COPs which are these:





The Granatelli coils are 300% hotter than stock. Stock are 20,000 volts. The MSD coils are the same as OEM - 20,000 volts.

If you look at the Granatelli coils you can see that they use the same rubber insulator as a stock coil pack:




But when you look at the plug connectors used on the GMS COP in comparison with the OEM and you can see that Granatelli has greatly improved connectors. They are 1000% better than the stock spring connectors.




So the connectors are also improved by using these COPs

Even if you use another coil like the Summit or even the OEM coil these connectors will be an upgrade.
