Default Coil on plug question.....

I have been thinking about going with after market Coils and was wondering if anyone else is running them? If so what do think? Also is there on brand better then the other such as MSD,Summit,Granatelli,Accell. I know that Granatelli are a lot more then the rest not that makes them better, but then why are so much more.

Default RE: Coil on plug question.....

Okay I have done a lot of testing with these.
To summarize: I ran Granatelli Hard Core Series coils when they came out. They rocked. They made my car run smoother. They eliminated spark blow-out which I would see on downshifts to 1st. They really do add HP -I guesstimate 20 + HP from the GMS coils. However, I had four burn out on me in one summer. IThe quality seemd to be a problem. So I went back to stock coils.
Then I went and bought MSD Blaster coils. I have them on the car now. They have run flawlessly. I think the GMS coils made more power though.
So JR. Granatelli saw a post I made about my bad GMS coils. He hadhis companysend me a brand new set of eight coils free, even after the warranty was over. It is a new coil design with improved coil windings and improved connectors. I look forward to testing them because the GMS Hard Core are 60,000 volt coils and the MSD are only 30,000 volts. I will be dyno testing stock vs. MSD vs. GMS sometime after April 1 when I get the car out.
It is a good mod and I like them even before I added my supercharger.

Thanks for the great info, I might just have to go with the GMS's sounds like they really stand by there product since they replaced them for free after the warranty was over. It seems like that is rare these days. I just recently S/C mine also and curious to see the improvement.

My first set of granatelli went bad also. I got themreplaced without a problem from the shop who put them in. They have had to replace a hand full of the first batch from granatelli. It has been a few months now and so far so good. I can't addif one is better than the other these are the only type I have tried

Yes the coils that went bad on me were from their first design. The current GMS coils are a new improved design. The GMS design have the best spark plug connectors out there no question. They are a big improvement from the spring design connectors.
My MSD coils workedwell but they use a OEM style spring connector where the GMS COPs have the solid stainless connectors.
