Default shifter

I am thinking of replacing my factory shifter with a new one. Looking at the Pro5.0 short through for it. Anyone using this setup, if not, what are you using? thanks.

I'm using the MGW shifter and love it. Everyone who has ever tried one loves it...I have never seen a negative post about it. I guy who is a very experienced drag racer and has used ever shifter on the market tried mine and thought it to be the best of the bunch.

I just put in a Pro50 last weekend. I love the shifter. Coming from a B&M its a huge improvement. 1-4 are very quick, 5th and reverse take a little muscle to move over to. I called Pro50 and they explained the shifter is designed this way, to help with 2nd to 3rd shifts. Basicaly they say you'll never miss a shift.

Now I have mixed feelings about the install. Took me better part of 5hrs. One of big reasons wasn't related to the shifter though. I apparently broke a mounting stud when I had my B&M installed. At first the install made me nervous. The shifter has absolutely no tolerances. Meaning, no room to play. Its a very tight fit. My first thoughts were sh#). Its bound up. But again, that's the way its designed.

The benefit of that is it makes you feel connected to the drivetrain more than ever. I think the biggest + is the shifter arm. IMHO, I like the way the arm leans back and angles over a little bit. Reminds me of the older fox body shifters. You will get more static inside the car from the trans and your exhaust when accelerating. But again, I like that myself. Some people can't stand it.

Best way to put it, its a racing shifter. The B&M was more a daily driver type. Its a great shifter. Pricey though, thank god I only paid $150. I can't speak for MGW but everywhere you look on here people say good things about it.

I love my hurst.....a lot of people dont tho.....its a very notchy shifter and thats why a lot of people dont like it...i guess......i've heard nothing but good things about the MGW, never anything bad.....see if you can go to a local car meet and if you can find guys with these shifters....test them out and make your decision that way. good luck and im sure u'll be happy with whatever you choose.

I just installed the pro50 too 2 weeks ago....to tell the truth I prefered the saleen short shifter block but am happy with the feel of the new shifter. I had to change from the saleen when I installed the spyder shaft as it was hitting. The new shifter is hard into 5th and reverse but pro50 was real good on the phone and is sending a new bushing to remedy that...will let you know. Overall I like the notchy feeling and shorter throw ( saleen was shorter ), I also cut the bolt on handle threaded rod and moved it back to make the throw even shorter and lower in the shifter boot.

Black08GT,

I'll sell you my B&M I took out for pretty cheap. Better as a daily driver shifter, but still has a nice "click" to it. My opinion, its anotch above a Hurst/Roush/FordRacing.....which I'm sure people will debate that. PM me if your interested. It comes with the prothane bushings too.

ok another question are there any performance shifters that have more of a design than a straight shaft. i figure if i am going to get something it might as well have some kind of style to it along with function...any suggestions would be really helpful
