Supercharger or Twin Turbo?

RE: Supercharger or Twin Turbo?
I wanted a turbo but then I watched a lot of 'early adopters' have problems (tuning issues, blown motors, etc.). Since my car is my DD I went with the Saleen. Nobody blows those up unless they try really really really hard.

RE: Supercharger or Twin Turbo?
I am going to use the car as a daily driver, and I am planning on changing a lot but not the bottom end. My plan right now is to get the bassani xpipe with cats, front and rear 13" brembos, front and rear sway bars, panhard bar, one peice aluminum drive shaft, B&M shifter, 3.90 gears, and a whipple supercharger. I got a price for all of that installed with the whipple tune for $12,600. Do you think I should go with the whipple or a different supercharger or a twn turbo?

I have heard good things and bad things about both.
For a DD, I would get the blower, rear swaybar and upgraded brake pads first. Save everything else for later. Do one step at a time as you learn more about what's adequate and not from the factory on these cars.

With your plans I would go with a TS. The Whipple setup you describe sounds like a winner. The twin turbo would be a waste of money if you are not going to build the engine if you want to go turbo go with a single kit.

Supercharger - Get power from right out of the box...but, they are VERY hard on the engines main-bearings. the 4.6 dont exactly have the strongest main bearings out there, and although lots of people have been having good luck with keeping it below "500". Remember, its only been 2-3 years
Twin Turbo - Very efficient - will make the same power as the supercharger, but with much less boost...which means that its alot easier on the engine...but then at the same time...its a lot of money.
I have been debating this exact decision for a long time now, and still havent decided.

Where do you come up with 4.6 having weak mains. These blocks have 4 bolt mains?
The weak component is the connecting rods. They are powdered metal rods and are about as thick as a toothbrush.

RE: Supercharger or Twin Turbo?
As stated if you want a nice street engine (DD)with a "big block" feel ie power and torque everywhere get the twin screw and keep it at 10psi or less on the stock internals.
If want big peak numbers, 650rwhp+ or the like get the TT. TT's on a stock shortblock is a waste. With a built stroker, its entirely different.
Any blower or single turbo will make similar power at 10psi, and they are all enough to blow up your stock engine if you get greedy.
