Default X PIPE advice

I've been looking around andI don't want to change my mufflers but I have been looking at an x pipe for my 2008. Do they make that much of a hp/sounddifference for the H pipe?I also have been looking at FR headers. Any advice?

x pipe will have a different sound than the h pipe, a little higher pitch, and you may gain 5 hp, if you remove the cats maybe a little more and louder too. and the FRPP headers, you mean the shorties? if so then its not worth it. for performance LT's are better, but shorties look better than stock, but not worth the time or effort changing to shorties. my advice would be change the midpipe to o/r x pipe, if you can get away w/ it legally, and see how you like it. if you want more power and louder sound get LT's and o/r mid pipe at the same time. but the midpipe for LT's is shorter than the midpipe for shorties or stock manifold.

A catted x-pipe with the stock mufflers sounds surprisingly good. A friend of mine put those on her mustang because she couldn't afford the mufflers yet and was still undecided about mufflers. I was very impressed with the sound. Bassani x-pipe by the way

I recently put the FRPP x-pipe in my otherwise stock GT. It really smooths out the exhaust tone. It isn't so rumbly, and the cabin noise is greatly reduced. I don't think there was any performance gain really. I didn't make the swap for the sound though. I have other performance upgrades planned that the x-pipe is an integral part of.

When you start messing with exhaust at what point do you need to retune the computer?

Also, does exhaust work mess with the warrenty?

Supposedly, exhaust changes don't require a tune, especially if it's only cat-back changes. For Ford to deny a warranty claim, it is up to them to prove that whatever modifications you have made have caused a specific failure. Do a search on the Magnison-Moss act. That being said, the only part of your waranty that exhaust changes are going to affect are exhaust parts that you are replacing.

I listened to my set-up before I put the MACs on and it sounded great, the MACs are better but with a catted X-pipe the stock mufflers still sound good, that being said the stock mufflers are ugly as hell from the back of the vehicle and huge, you probably save 10 lbs getting aftermarket !!So I got the stainless MACs, plus the 4" tips look alot better, hereis apic of the tips and a audio clip of my full set-up. Enjoy

If you go O/R midpipe you will need MIL eliminators (or use handheld tuner if you have one) because removing the cats will trip a troublecode (O2 sensor) and your check engine light will come on. The MIL eliminators will shut off the check engine light for that particular code.
