Default Missed 3rd

I have been driving stick shift cars 35 years, Since I was 10 and learned on my Dads 1972302Grabber GreenMustang.(I wish I had that car now)I have never missed a 3rd gear shift until recently in my sons 06 GT It felt like the shifter bound up, Is this a common problem with the new Mustang?? If so what is the suggested fix?? I tried to get it to do it again but I couldn't, I don't know if I was maybe a little easier on it or what but it really bothers me is that I missed a shift and it wasn't my fault!! Any help would be geatly appreciated.
Thank You
Jeff T.

I have Prothane Bullet motor mounts. They're much more sturdy than stock mounts and prevent engine deflection, which is a common cause for missing 3rd.

You can also "feel" the engine more in the seat of your pants, which some people don't care for, but I don't think its a problem and I think it makes it feel more like a muscle car.

Mine are modified to be 1/2 inch shorter than stock mounts, which give me a little extra clearance for my Saleen SC and stock hood.

This is what they look like:

We are currentlylooking atthe Griggs suspension upgrade and it includes the K-Member so ifI install that with the solid motor mounts that should alleviate the problem. So for now I guess we will have to deal with it and hope it doesn't happen to often. The suspension will be upgraded by March.

What about a different shifter? That helped me the most.

What about the Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter? They Claim Shorter More Positive Shifts...

I prefer the MGW over the Steeda and I have owned and used the Steeda. Both are great but the smootness and feel of the MGW shifter is amazing when compared to the Steeda. Motor mounts or torque limiters w/K member will work for what you have a problem with and the short throw shifter will help 2nd to the mounts or the limiters IMO.

I never had problems on the street with my factory or Hurst shifter, but at the track getting into gear was a problem at high rpms. I've got an MGW shifter which is precise and smooth, SpecII+ clutch, and a tubular k-member with integrated motor mounts. Shiftingall the way up to6400rpms is no problem now...

Short shifter
Motor mounts
K-member brace with torque limiters

...all of those will help to reduce or completely eliminate this problem. For me, my Hurst shifter did the job for me. I thought about getting mounts or the K-member brace with torque limiters, but I am able to hit 3rd all the time with just the shifter alone.
