i wouldn't get 4.10 with an auto i know of a lot of people on here that did it and they all regret it. 3.73s are going to be just about the same ratio as 4.10's on a manual

personally I want to see what 4.88 gears can do!~

(O_o)!!

they can make you pay $400 a week in gas.

unless your engine revs to like 8 grand, you really don't need anything past 4.56's

Ah so they moved my thread. No wonder I couldn't find it. lol! It would be nice if the board would automatically send an email letting me know the thread was moved.

Ok so I'm now convinced 3.73 would be better for me. I didn't know there would be a difference between auto and manual for gears.

Why the dealer? Well I don't know of any closer shop that I would trust doing this. But I'm still going to call them and see what they will charge. I may just have to go somewhere else even if they're much farther away if the stealer asks too much.

User "thewarmachine" installed 4.10's with his auto and was ecstatic with them. You know how that goes though.... happy with something for a few weeks and then you hate it. PM him to see if he's still happy with em'. I installed 4.10's in my manual car and love them. 2.5k rpms at 70mph which is fine with me. I don't need to run over 70mph anyways unless I'm racing and it keeps my driving record clean. When the exhaust starts screaming it's time to slow down!! ;-). I don't even have to look at my speedo anymore.

I did run it up over 100mph a couple of times. The exhaust starts howling at around 80mph, settles into a constant hum and then you're just cookin' up to redline. Love my gears.

does anyone think I should go bigger then 410s maybe 430s or 456???? if 410s are the **** for a manual would 430s be better???? im just thinking and besides i dont mind shifting and i love the sound of my muffs and i rarely go on the highway and when i do im way to tempted to go way way way to fast.... if its clear... i slow when the rag top starts to shake... oops my bad... hah aha hahahahahahah

That's a decision I had to make. I have 4.56's on my truck and have never dreaded a road trip no matter how loud the exhaust is. My GF thinks otherwise. She thinks that my car now, with 4.10's, somewhat (red poly) solid engine mounts, longtubes and bullet exhaust is a nuisance when she wants a nice quiet conversation while we're driving. I think it's "responsive". All in what you want. You give up "refined" for "raw" every time you make a change... from the nasty "hydra" mounts that Ford installs to the loud exhaust.

That said... I would go 4.30's if I could. Nothing more on a street car.

other then a ridiculously short 2nd/3rd gear I don't see why 4.10s would be so bad in an auto?
