Default Parking brake

I have a parking brake problem. It does not hold the car unless I use both hands and a forbidding amount of force to put it up. Recently, the cable snapped, probably because of that, and it was replaced, but I am afraid the new one will snap too if I use it the same way. Whats wrong with it?

Cool lift the car

Put the car on a lift and see if the cable is routed correctly (no binding turns) etc. Cables are usually hard to break. Could have been rubbing on a pinch point somewhere and cutting the cable slowly. good luck
