Default Nitrous Set-up Help

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I plan on putting a zex kit on my car. It's a 2006. I just wanted all you pro's to take a look at the set-up I want to run and tell me what you would change or wouldn't change. Any help and insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Zex kit #82034 (plan on running the 100 shot)

Zex Bottle Heater

Bottle Opener

I'll get a bottle blanket to clean it up in the trunk

Colder Plugs (will these suffice or should I go with something different?)
http://www.jegs.com/i/Comp%20Cams/249/82071-8/10002/-1

I will get the autometer a/f gauge a nirous pressure gauge and mount them on the a-pillar.

Is there anything else I need to do? Will have have fuel issues at all with this set-up?

Thanks for the help!.

It looks like those ZEX plugs aren't made for our year yet. Most people here use these:
Autolite HT0
You'll also need to pull some timing with a 100 shot.

You'll need an RPM window switch. If you're fuel pump should fail while you're spraying, then will the Zex unit shut down nitrous? As far as I know it's just adjusting fuel to match nitrous pressure. If there is no fuel, then I'm not sure if Zex can sense that. A fuel pressure safety switch ($20) fixes that issue. The wiring could get weird with the Zex box, though.

"Largest in the industry" bothers me. A large purge is useful if you want to put on a show, but not necessary to get the nitrous up to the solenoid. I think it will look good and waste a bunch of nitrous. You may need some flexible hose to get the purge where you want it.

Not such a great product. It plugs directly into the battery. NOS and probably NX and I'm sure a few other companies wire there heaters to shutoff when the key is not in run. That means if the key is not in the ignition, then heater will automatically turn off. With this unit, if you accidentally leave it on and walk away, you'll drain your battery.

DO NOT wire your heater directly to the battery!!!

Pro: This unit would be a lot easier to hook up.

Call Zex or download the instructions from their website and make sure it has an LED indicator. The NOS bottle opener has an LED light that tells you the status of the bottle (the light is on the switch). When you turn it on the light blinks when the bottle is opening and turns steady when the bottle is open. NX might do the same, I don't know. I really like the feature on mine. That way, you'll now if there is a problem with the system. Otherwise, it looks fine to me.

I don't think you'll have any fuel issues. You may want to measure fuel pressure, though. (expensive, lazy way is the Aeroforce Gauge, that's what I have!) If something goes wrong with the pump then you can get in trouble, which is why I hooked up a fuel pressure safety switch to my setup. Cheap insurance!

Otherwise, be sure to get an RPM window switch. That way, you don't spray too early and just as importantly, you don't hit the rev limiter when you're spraying. When the later happens, fuel is cut, the system is spraying nitrous and no gasoline and that leads to disaster!

All of the kits I've seen for our cars come with a wide open throttle switch NX, Edelbrock, NOS, Zex, etc. (I'm sure someone will dig one up that doesn't! But most do!) Some kits include a combination window switch/wide open throttle switch. Zex only includes a wide open throttle switch. That's not the safest way.

The NX makes some high quality parts. Their plate system would be a good choice...no tapping the intake, either. A bit on the pricey side, though...
