A good machine shop charged me 200.0 for the balance, some places will do it for 150.00. and then he charged me 600.00 for assembly with a warranty. I was going to assemble it myself, but for extra 600.00 with the warranty it was worth it.

good info here. after taking my power up little by little i've been thinking of doing this or at least piecing some of the pieces together little by little just for insurance in case something goes.

Is cost a big driver?

Obviously you could call up Livernois and get a pimptastic setup for some big $$ and be done.

If you are looking for economy I have been researching the feasability of using a 03 cobra SB. Some say there is piston-valve clearance issues and some say there isnt. Or you could have a place build you a SB with an iron block that saves you some $$ there but you will have more weight.

Lots to think about.

Since you are local to orlando I am very interested to see where you get work done and how much it ends up costing you, as I very well might be in your shoes in the future.

I hope it all works out for you.

you could buy a livernois 298 stroker kit for 2000 comes pre balanced. Machine shop would charge about 500 or so to install it. So if you can pull the motor yourself and whatnot your looking at about 2500dollars-3000 depending if you get little extras for a really good setup with a 1 year warranty from defect supports 1000hp too. If your paying a shop to install it, add on anywhere from 1700-3000 more depending on the shop.
