Can Ford flash for 4.10 gears?
I had the gears put in, and then took it to the dealer for the Flash, but their programmer keeps saying that it is an unofficial calibration, or something like that.
The tech just emailed Ford to hopefully find a way to override it, as the highest ratio he can enter successfully is 3.73.
I am kind of sunk here, so does anyone have ideas? I don't have an intake and didn't even consider having to spend for a programmer, so that is pretty much out.
There should be a place that I can take this to get it flashed. Then again, why not the dealer?!

Why would you get gears installed before an intake and tune? Buy a tuner from brenspeed.com or bamachips.com or some other tuner. There is no other way to fix the speedometer and I wasn't even aware that Ford would change it to 3.73.
Gears are nice, but the intake/tune is a much better investment imo. The stock tune sucks.

Even if you just order a tuner from Bama with 3 tunes, you can order a CAI later and Bama will send you free tunes for it, I believe. Custom tunes are definately worth every penny.

Sorry, didn't see your posts until now. I just purchased an SCT SF3 from americanmuscle.com. It comes preloaded, and then they will do custom tunes for me too.
Thanks guys

When we asked our local ford dealership for pricing on a gear install they quoted $1,000 and 1 week for the install. Because they had to send the PCM to Ford to get it reprogrammed.
I went with a local shop for $300 :P (not the cheapest place, but they've done a nearly whine free install for a friend) and yes.. good choice on getting a tuner.
