Exclamation The dreaded check engine light....

So I installed my headers and high flow cats on the 14th of this month and on the 20th (yesterday) the check engine light came on. Here is what happend. I was driving down the interstate yesterday. had a car in front of me, one on each side and one behind me. All of the sudden this big chunky piece of hard plastic (almost looked like floded over aluminum roofing) is right in front of me and with nowhere to go I ran it over and spit it out the back. and that is when the light can on. I got off on the next exit looked under the car, nothing dangling, leaking or out of place. no exhaust leaks or anything else didn't evan scrap any paint off. So do you guys think that it was just funny timing for engine light to come on from the headers being installed (like a delayed reaction o something). Or do you think that if I had the headers installed on the 14th the light should of come on right after install not a week later. I drive the car 30 miles round trip to work every day 50/50 city hwy and sometime stop and go traffic. Thank for any input in advance.

Have you read the code?

When I put my headers on, it took 2 weeks for the CEL to come on.

Who did your tune?

I'm actually waiting for the tune. I had it dyno'd after the install to make sure I wan't running lean and what not. But i'll be ordering a tune from brenspeed in the near futer. And I have'nt had the code read yet. I'm asuming that it's related to the headers/cats

Has to be the headers. You are guaranteed to get a CEL if you don't have a tune for the headers. Even after you get a tune, you stand a chance to get a CEL because of the headers.

My thoughts exactly... Unless the metal flying underneath somehow managed to rip the O2 sensor wiring.
