Default SCTx3 tuner help!

How do I change the 1st and 2nd gear shifts? I want them to shift during WOT (from a dead stop) at 5k.

The options are confusing (+5, -5 mph??)

lol, well.. unless you all know what you are doing. I would not mess with the settings. I did this a week ago and my car was acting crazy. It would jump as I tapped on the gas, hold the gear for like a second then it would shift so hard it would jerk, and other unpredictable behaviors.. I re-loaded the custom tune and left it alone!

WOT shift points are RPM based - not MPH.

Your tuner would have entered the WOT RPM shift points in the tune. The RPM shift point for 1st to 2nd should be at 5900, 2nd to 3rd 6000, and 3 to 4th 6000. I have my shift point for 4th to 5th set at 7000 RPM (which will never be reached). At WOT I do not want to shift into 5th............ever.

If you set the WOT RPM shift points too low (5000 prm) when the shift happens the engine will bog down because you will be on the wrong side of the torque curve.

There are plenty of papers written that explain where the optimum shift points should be. Just google it.

Attached you will find a paper that makes for some interesting reading.

Have fun

That's something I'd discuss with my tuner as I believe there's more to it than you think. To do it right, I'd have them write a new tune unless they suggest the settings that you can change on your own.
