Thumbs up cheap axlebacks

Can't afford big time mufflers. Anyone know of a cheap good sounding axleback? Still want too sound good but be cost effective at the same time.

The pypes axleback is like 210 or 220 I think. So they are cheap and nice and they sound good I think.

I went with the Pypes Violater axle back. I paid $230 shipped to my door from American Muscle. Here's a vid of what they sound like at the track...... pardon the background music.

best sounding as long as your going for the deep tone, not the raspy, are either borla or corsa. And you will see no power gains from mufflers. And the guys are right, don't waste your money on a cat back, just get the muffler (axle-back).

stone629 how are you gettin over 300 REAR WHEEL HORSE with just a cold air and tune...and pulleys? 280 is on the high side for just a cold air and tuner. My car when I first got it with just a cold air and tune and 20 inch rims made 274 rwhp and I ran a 13 flat at 110 with a 2.0 sixty time. Im just curious where you are getting your numbers from? The rwhp number seems pretty impressive, maybe it's just the calibration on the different dynos? And it seems like you should have had a better 1/4 mile time for that horse power?

Most guys around here are running canned tunes. Mine was custom tuned. I think that hurts a lot of these guys numbers. Was your custom tuned? As for my times, I don't know what to say man. I'm running street tires and 4.10s, so traction is somewhat limited. Also, I have only made about 12 passes (driver mod still being mastered, lol), and it has been in 90 degree weather both times with a +1800' DA. I feel confident that I can nail a 12.8 on a good 40 degree night. My RWHP could be in the dyno, or it could be the tuner guy himself. He said that most S197s he has tuned make 295-310 RWHP with my mods. I will say that my rwhp spikes like crazy right at the end of the RPM range by 7-8 rwhp.

Oh, how on earth did you trap 110 mph with a tune and CAI...... on 20s at that!? What were the weather conditions when you ran.

I had the 20s on for the dyno. I made that run on stock 17s with stock tired.

Thats seriously the highest trap I have seen out of a S197 with a CAI/Tune.

Weather, canned or dyno tune?
