Changing Gears ... Help Needed Please
Hi, I am a new 2008 Mustang GT owner and also new to this forum. I am installing the Ford Racing 4.10 gears. I have a Roushcharger and many other add-ons from Roush. I have the Auto with 3.55 gears. Do I need to send the computer back to Roush for them to enter in the new gear info? If so how much will it cost and how long would it take. Has anyone had to this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it's not too late to undo your decision, having 4.10's with a supercharger is just asking to sit there and spin your tires endlessly.
As far as tuning goes, with "lots of them", you're probably best off going to a local speed shop and getting a custom dyno tune. It'll be tuned perfectly to *your car*, so that you'll know that you're getting the best performance from it. Probably cost about $250 or so? As far as time, you'll ahve to ask your shop; summer's usually when people get things done to their cars, so your wait time might be more. Then again, in this slowed down economy, who knows?
Also, I'd look into getting stickier tires.

I am new to mustangs and I have always heard that running 3.73's or 4.10 give better 1/4 times. But I do understand what you are saying about just spinning the tires. Then I would get to the finish line even slower, so it would be pointless.I was trying to stay under the Roush tune so they would honor their warranty if something happened. It looks like I might just have to get a refund on my extended warranty and go for the gusto.

You heard right - getting shorter gears will give you better 1/4 mile times.
That assumes, however, that you can hook your tires and go. With the power that a supercharger will put down, chances are that you'll be spinning your tires a lot without some pretty sticky rubber.
As far as Roush tunes, you may be able to contact the person who sold you all those parts (or contact Roush) and see if they have an approved tuner near you, if you're worried about the warranty. That being said, personal dyno tunes for your car will ALWAYS be better than canned tunes. Not worlds of difference better, mind you, but better.

proper suspension and tires solves most traction issues
