Default Gear Install - How Much?

Does anyone know how much this typically costs for the labor?

There is a shop here south of Houston (PSI Motorsports) that does it for $515 out the door. That includes gears and labor.

Typically takes about 3-4 hours to install & set-up... times whatever the
going hourly rate is at your shop. Cost me $ 300.00 just for labour.

I got a quote at a local performance shop for $600. It seems kind of steep. It's a shop called TPS Motorsports in Campbell, CA. They're price includes 2 year parts and labor warranty and they are selling that their installs are without gear whine. Which I assume that if any shop installs and shims correctly that there wouldn't be any whine. So I thought the mention of it was kind of odd. They wouldn't negotiate rate. So I'm either going to have to wait a little longer to save the additional dough or find another shop.

I paid $150 for the gears, around $50 for RP gear lube and $200 for the install.

It seems like $200-$300 is the going shop rate. These guys want to charge me $400 for labor alone. Maybe it's the cost of living in CA.
