Default Rev Limiter issues

I have a 2005 Saleen S-281 and it is very quick on the gun with the rev. limiter it drives me crazy that this thing pulls the engine out a split second before I shift. Any way besides short shifting this problem can be cured?

raise the limiter, you need a hand held tuner to do it

I was told you can't reflash a Saleen programmed ECU some one told me they lock it so you have to have a Saleen factory authorized shop do the flash, is this true?

Try calling Brenspeed or Bama. I'm sure they can tell you if that's true or not.

sounds familiar, so you have no handheld?

I would think you could order a SCT w/ a tune from Brenspeed, Bama or JDM with a tune for the car to solve your issue. JDM has the best rep for Saleen tunes.

Is it s/c or n/a ? Are you sure it is the rev limiter, not the traction control kicking in?

It's naturally aspirated and for the most part I leave the traction control on , so I'm not sure which it is, these new mustangs are a lot different than the old boys! So what you're saying is the traction control can pull the revs out also? Times have changed! When I got my Boss 302 all you did was remove the Rev. Limiter and you were off to the races. Ahh technology! If you could explain a little more about this traction control thing it would be appreciated.

To answer STKJOCK's question no I don't have a handheld tuner, just got the car a short time ago.

my bad I just figured it was blown already, it could be the TC as well, try driving with it off and see if you have the same issue.

IMHO get a CAI/Tuner if your not looking to spend on a blower now
