Default Mustang Harmonic Balancer

Does anyone know how to find the keyway in the harmonic balancer without taking the bolt out? I am currently doing hot rod cams and cant find the 12 o'clock position because the harmonic balancer is not stamped or groved

if you look closely at the crankshaft pulley
inner edge, you should see a small cut. this
is the timing mark and the damper spoke just to
the left of it, will be what you set to the 12 and
6 o'clock positions.

hope this helps and good luck with the project.

hammeron, right after I read your reply I found the grove right away. I was originally looking on the outer edge and couldnt find it. Your help is much appreciated. Did you do the cams too?

after you remove the followers on the right hand side did you turn the crank to remove the followers on the left hand side?

for me they were strictly a sound mod, i was already
running at a comfortable power level (450) and didn't
need any more.

with a dyno tune you may see a 20-30rwhp gain.

Its pretty much a sound mod for me too. I went with the bamachips tune for them so I shouldnt gain too much. I will let you know how they turn out when I am done. Thanks again for all the help
