Default Hot Rod cams+ lockouts??

okay so i jut bought a set of FRPP Hot Rod cams for my 05 mustang Gt. I have bad cam phasers that knock/tick and i was wondering if i could use lockouts with these cams? will it hurt my power gains or anything??

Phaser limiters will stop any ticking plus allow you to keep the benefits of the VCT. See the Comp Cams article about them.

certainly you can use lockouts, if that's what
you want to do. i can't tell you how much power
you will lose because i don't know if you are going
to install them full advance or full retard.

me personally, i would replace the phasers while doing
the cam install, then you would have a working VCT
system.

Probably new phasers would be best.

But if you were getting a cam that needed either limiters or lockouts, like most cams by Comp, then I'd say limiters. Lockouts would throw you back many years in the past and you lose what VCT gives you. But the Hot Rod cams don't need either so you're good with just new phasers.
