Cold air intake w/o programmer
Hey guys
I talked to someone the other day that told me my 09 GT wouldn't run right if I got an intake without a programmer. Has anyone done this and could you let me know how things worked out. Thanks

Not sure why it wouldn't run right, or why it's any different than that earlier years. I would check the websites of manufacturers who sell the ones that do not require a tune.
when I first bought my K&N I didn't have a tune. there was a small increase and I was happy with it. About a year later I bought the SCT and wow what a difference. !

A stand-alone, no-tune-required CAI SHOULD run fine on your '09 except that there are the few that have reported throwing a CEL for running lean. In other words, the PCM couldn't adjust enough for the additional air. Running lean can eventually cause severe engine damage. But even if it doesn't throw a code, you're not getting the benefit w/o a tune. A stand-alone CAI might net you 4-6 RWHP or so.
A tune required CAI and a tune (CAI & tune combo) from one of the better tuners (tune writers) will net you 15-25 or more RWHP. Even the custom 87 tune kicks major azz over the stock 87 tune.
