I put in a little larger battery (size 40R) and the wrap wouldn't fit. Sitting in my garage. I never really thought they really did anything.

I haven't used mine since I switched to an Optima. I've never really been convinced that it's neccesary. Is there something I don't know?

Although a battery's capacity drops as temperature goes down, it's longevity drops as temperature goes up; at least lead-acid batteries. I'm not versed in AGM technology. My assumption is that the battery blanket is Ford's way of protecting the battery from our easily heat-soaked engines with high ambient temps where the battery could be subjected to a lot of heat. Considering the volume and density of the typical battery, it stands to reason that it would retain it's "cooler" temperature with some assistance, at least for some period of time.

However, considering that the OE batteries are garbage, wrapping it to protect it is sorta like putting perfume on a pig.

my OE battery lasted me over 4 years and almost 60,000 miles. Guess I was lucky.

Well, I plan to relocate the battery to the trunk soon anyway. I can't understand why more vehicles don't come with trunk mounted batteries. Even my prius has the 12v battery in the trunk, lol.
