Default MGW shifter kinda loud

Just installed the MGW short throw shifter on my '10 GT. It's very smooth and well made, however it's kind of loud. Transmission noise is more pronounced than stock. It's not too bad and the throw and feel is still way better than stock. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed the uptick in noise.

I have the Roush shifter and my noise level has increased also. The MGW is actually supposed to be the quietest shifter available so I am surprised to hear you think it is loud. The stock shifter linkage has big soft rubber bushings at both ends and this absorbs a lot of the noise in the stock driveline. Aftermarket shifters replace these with poly bushings which transmit a lot of noise. Did you use the dynamat and sound absorber that comes with the MGW shifter? That should have blocked a lot of the noise. Maybe also give MGW a call and ask if they have any suggestions to quiet it down.

I used the dynamat and I called George at MGW who was very helpful. He said the same thing about noise transfer. Again it's not too bad I was just wondering if other installers encountered the same thing.

I have one of the original MGW BETA shifters on my 06 GT. I also noticed additional noise from it after I install it. I don't even notice the small increase in additional noise anymore, the MGW is still the best shifter available.
George did make some changes from the original BETA version such as a different way of installing the Dynamat and an additional barrier.

The 2010s are much quieter than the 05-09s. The stock shifter on my 2010 was silent. When I added the Roush I got a little more noise from the transmission, but it was still less than the amount on noise the stock shifter made on my 2008 GT.

I just installed the MGW shifter and it is noisy. It came with 2 small sheets of dynamat which i didnt install because i wasnt sure where it was supposed to go. Guess ill try that. The install cd they sent looked pretty helpful but mine didnt have any sound on it except the last 15 seconds.
