Another clutch thread!!
This is the response I got from a local installer.....
"The McLeod twin disc are kind of a nightmare to get correctly shimmed (in other words, the trans may need to come in and out more than once to get it shimmed correctly, which equals more labor costs) and we have had a couple customers that have had problems with them as far as how they engage. We have several 05-up customers making well over 500rwhp still using single disc clutches. I would recommend a Centerforce DFX, if you are set on a dual disc clutch, RPS makes twin disc clutch kits that are pre-shimmed for easy install, we just installed one on a C6 Corvette, smooth engagement and low effort pedal. The price on the RPS twin disk with flywheel is $1599 plus tax and shipping(does not include TOB- recommend using a NEW stock Ford) . The labor runs about $470.
I know Mcleod makes a couple different twin disc, see if they are pre-shimmed now...if not, I'd avoid it"

Thanks for the response Bruce. That particular installer does work on all kinds of cars, doesnt really concentrate on a certain model. So I didnt expect them to have much experience, I just contacted them first to see if they had experience with that clutch. I am trying to find another shop decently close that has experience with S197 clutchs. There is no way I was going to go with the Centerforce setup. After all the great reviews of the McLeod I am set on getting that clutch. Thanks for all the great help.
Spec gets a bad rap on this forum, but mine has been flawless and it didn't cost an obscene amount of money. I have a stage 2 with the spec billet steel flywheel. Plenty of people run the spec stage 3+ and have great success with it. The spec stage 2+ has had a lot of bad feedback, not sure why that one is so different. I've abused this clutch for 10,000 miles and no problems. I did install a new TOB, but the old one looked fine.
Whatever you get, I would get a flywheel to match. They may say the stock flywheel works with their clutch, but works and works perfectly are two different things.

Well I am ordering my clutch setup now! Just to verify before I order the stock input shaft on our cars is the 10 spline right?? Not the 26 spline right. And for the flywheel we have the 6 bolt not the 8 bolt?? Just want to veryify before I order, haha feel like a newb but I am not 100% sure.
