Nice.... So at this point do you think buying a aluminator or maybe even the block brenspeed put together, is cheaper then buying your own rotating assembly then paying for the machining and all that in your stock block? I'm thikinng its got to be close at this point considering the rotating assembly I'm looking at is 2050 itself...

is i went around and around playing with the numbers and wondering
whether i could trust a machine shop with preparing a bare block. also
added to the mix was the question of whether i could assemble the
block correctly. i chose swapping the short block because i thought i
could at least do that, with a fair chance of success.
feel terrible that it ended that way. the bright side is now you'll have a nice
foundation for big power.

Thanks for this, hammeron.
I've been spending a lot of time thinking about getting the aluminator block due to the low prices however I'm NA and if I make this purchase, I'll have to wait a while before I spend the money on FI.
Of course the eventual intention is to go FI but it's sounding to me that I'd be going backwards if I do that.
Is that the case?
How do these aluminators run NA?
I've got a CAI and long tubes and that is it.
Thanks again.

you are most welcome Jimmy. the thought occurred to me that
since you are already planning on a short block replacement,
there's no reason not to go FI now and enjoy 10psi for a
year or two, on the stock internals.

exactly what i was thinking while driving
into work this morning. i may just do this
as soon as i can get about 300 miles
on her.
it would come as no surprise to see peak
hp/tq down some, but it would be interesting
none the less.

Hmmm. I happen to know where you could get those numbers done for $60 this Saturday. You could knock out over half of your miles getting there too... Just sayin'

thanks for the invite but too many rock dings and i
haven't built up enough confidance to take it that far.
my tuning guru is only 15 miles away and if i just want
to have dyno runs, there's a local shop which is only
about 10 miles away from the house.
