I'm thinking of just doing a tune with the stock airbox myself. If I decide to get a CAI I would get a C&L, I loved the one I had on my V6(for sale by the way). I would recommend it, it is very well built, the inlet pipe feel like a tank and the filter is really nice. I'm just not sure if the 2-3rwhp you gain on the 10's is worth the extra $300+! Most of the power generated comes from the tuner's tune anyways...

Good thing.

When she drove it through a puddle and it hydrolocked it was repaired under warranty.

Good luck getting that result w/ a CAI...
lol fail install? Must have been one hell of a puddle. Can't knock CAI's because your daughter's was either installed wrong or she drove through a lake-like puddle fast enough to bring water over the top of the engine from the front.

Thats crazy.

@OP CAI/tune is the best thing I've given my car yet. Woke her up quite a bit.

Some cold air intakes (like the one in my jetta) went down to the fender and hung at the bottom of the bumper. Not all cold air intakes just sit in the engine bay. The true cold air goes down outside the engine bay and it can be very easy to hydrolock those

I think this response applies more to the 05-09 GTs than the 2010 and I would not expect AS DRAMATIC of an increase. I still don't have an updated dyno with mine but I added a C&L racer & Bama tune and it does not feel anything like a 100hp boost but rather marginally quicker at most. Just my $.02

Huh. When I added only the tune from Tillman, it felt like rocket boosters had been added to mine. As a matter of a fact, I originally used the tamer Road Race tune instead of the "All Out" because the later was just too jumpy for me.

Since then, I added the CAI and Steeda Delete plugs, which obviously required an updated tune from Tillman. At that point, the car lost a little torque in favor of upper power band HP -- something I attribute to the delete plugs more than the CAI. Now, it's so much smoother, I'm comfortable with the "All Out."

Regardless, it still feels like a completely different car. I will admit this -- the difference between a CAI/tune and the tune alone on the 2010 is probably only a few HP . . . and underhood eye candy. Plus, it does sound pretty cool to hear the CAI violently suck air when you slam the throttle.

Yeah but don't those have bypass filters/valves for water?
