Default NEW mEMBER - 06 GT Mods

im new to the forum, got an 06 gt w/ minor mods right now but im never satisfied. I dont want to break the bank, and i know a list of mods but theres always a problem you run into.

-if i get an underdrive pulley, i hear i cant run a high powered sub
-i here TB's are completely pointless w/o a supercharger
-shorty headers are pointless(so i hear) but if i get long tubes i have to get a new mid pipe
-Lowering springs are a good idea but the speed bumbs make that an issue

I was just looking for input from anybody with experience and what is worth the time and money and what is not

I second that...I'm about to purchase an 05 GT (waiting for check from totaled car) with a BBK intake and Flowmaster axleback and of course...I want more...lol I do know that the SCT Tuner is recommended and tuners are definitely worth it, I had one on my charger and that thing went from "meh" to "daaaaamn"...

Ya I have a steeda CAI with an sct custom tune. Also flowmaster axlebacks. I highly recomend a tuner for anyone looking for more power. I'm thinking about throwing on a set of long tubes and a catted mid pipe soon along with LCAs and UCAs

It all depends on what you are trying to get of your car. Are you looking for a better sound from the car? Do you just want some more grunt? Or more of the show and go?

My car sounds nice now, n when i hit it its nice. but its just nice. i want raspy but not obnoxious. If i go with long tubes and a mid pipe, its gonna be catted for now, but im not sure if i want a x(more horsepower) or an H just cuz i like that rumble

I got the perfect sound out of my SLP loudmouth exhaust and didn't need to upgrade anything else exhaust wise. I would just get some more research down and figure out what you want to do with your ride. I'd be happy to help as much as I can in the performance end.

The UD crank shaft pulley will make the alternator turn less RPM and hence will not produce as many peak amps at the same engine RPM as before. This makes high powered car audio amplifiers a bad idea and you may have issues keeping your battery peaked at all time. In a previous car I made it a point to put my battery on a trickle charger about once a month just in case I was starving my battery due to my high end stereo. That car had a UDP.

Throttle bodies are not worth the gain vs. cost with a low modded NA motor. Unless you have a built NA beast, save the money for mods that result in higher gains. The only engines I have really thought of them to be worthwhile were on supercharged applications.

Yes, shorty headers are much like throttle bodies, just not worth the cost versus gain. The factory manifolds were designed well considering. I know you really don't want to "break the bank" but I have been reading about mods for my GT for over 2 years, let me share my opinion with you. We always want more, SAVE YOUR MONEY! You will NEVER have the car you really want until you supercharge it. You could add every bolt on, heads, cams, headers, intake, etc....and you already spent what you could have had a supercharger for, and not had nearly as much power. Do what I'm doing, save your money and wait.

Yes, if you get long tubes a new mid pipe is a must. IMO, long tubes are STILL not worth the cost versus gain. I would buy cams for less money before I bought long tubes and a new mid pipe setup. Then I would have lopey idle and more horsepower.

You may have to change your driving habits, but you really need to research this subject on your own to build a system that meets your requirements from your car.

well both previous replys are great, but unleashedbeast ur right, i guess theres no point in blowing 200 on a UP and 300 on a TB when u can save it for a supercharger becuase the gains wont be even noticeable.

Suspension mods are very definitely worth it. However you still have to have a goal in mind, for me it was improving it in the twisties, but for you it may be for launching off the line, or not.
After upgrading my suspension, I couldn't believe how much the stock suspension sucks. It was night and day, from an unpredictable car with severe understeer and power oversteer to a well mannered beast that I can now adjust to grip or drift through the corners.
