Throwing a CEL = The car signaling you something is wrong via the Check Engine Light (C.E.L.).

It's likely that, if you're not throwing a CEL (a.k.a. code), that the car already has a custom (or non-stock) tune. The fly in the ointment is that you could run into some difficulties if you attempt to retune it.

For mileage, just lighten up on the acceleration and watch your cruising speeds. I notice a rather significant drop in average MPG's as I drive faster than 65 MPH and higher than 1800 RPM. Hilly terrain, road surface, tire construction, tire pressure, wheel alignment, fuel with varying ethanol levels, wind speed and direction plus a ton of other things all can affect your fuel mileage.

Even on my usual long road trips with the Stang at steady 70MPH speeds, I typically average about 24 MPG (hand calculated; most of the onboard readouts are off by about 2 MPG). Drop that to cruising at 55 MPH and I've seen 27 MPG (but who the hell can drive for hours at 55???).

Congrats on the new ride!!!

If you're worried about fuel mileage now....Don't even look into the Forced Induction(F/I) threads. You'll really be screaming about fuel mileage then, but man is it a blast

Assuming the CEL is from running lean due to running the Steeda CAI w/o a custom tune, any custom tune should eliminate it. AM and Brenspeed are two of the best tune writers and both support the SCT. There are fewer and fewer that support the Diablo.

Tunes and CAI's and most any other aftermarket part will not void your warranty. Unfortunately, a lot of dealerships will intimidate the poor wusses that let them. And there sure are a lot of those wusses out there.
