Default IAT sensor relocation

I've searched and found some pictures of where people have relocated this sensor on their whipple supercharger kit, and was wondering where you guys think the best spot for it is?

Prior to installing, likely right at the back of the manifold (not in a specific port), by drilling/tapping a threaded hole for the sensor. The only issue here is that you don't want to make a mistake on your priceless whipple manifold.

I did mine post-install using the pre-existing threaded port on the driver's side because I didn't want to pull the blower and manifold.

Pratically, it likely doesn't make that much difference where the sensor is, as long as it is post-compressor. Drilling the manifold is the cleaner, more professional method albeit with higher effort.

The sensor is really easy to source right from Ford. DY-754 (F6SZ-12A697-A)

The pigtail is really easy to source right from Ford. WPT-322 (3S2Z-14S411-JZA)

We're adding these as a combo kit onto our website for the future. Should have them in-stock ready to buy next week.

You take off the charger, and drill/tap the back of the plenum, right under one of the runners, out of the way of anything important. You then run the two wires in the MAF ( I believe white and gray ) to the pigtail instead of the MAF connector.

I attached a picture to show the location. It's a 3/8" NPT thread.

Thanks for the information AMChrisRose, how is the clearance between the firewall and the sensor?

Not great, but not bad either. There's enough room for it, and it's not a huge PITA to get to.

Why did american muscle choose that spot on the intake manifold? Convenient or is that a good spot to get a true temperature reading?

It's a good spot to get the reading right as the air has been compressed and is going into the motor. It's not really super convenient, but it's not inconvenient either. It's just the best location for accuracy that I've found. You want to keep it as far away from coolant as possible, as you'll get higher readings up front, from what I've found.
