Exclamation Help... Please read the short story!

Ok kind of a story.
I was removing the air vents to paint them and on the driver side when I tried to remove the air vent the whole dash console came out a bit.
I put it back in place.

Later on I get back in the car and turn it on.
Then I think I smell a burning smell. So I wondered if when part
of that panel came out it could have messed up a wire and now
it was burning or something.
I start the car to see if I can smell it more and too see if all gauges
seem to be working. All were.

I had the garage door closed so I thought maybe it was just
the exhaust mixed with the smell of paint from me painting the vents.

So I opened the garage door and went to the back of my car where the exhaust is and smelled down there to see if it was the same smell.
I believe it was.. not sure...

But when I bent down the exhaust spit a couple of dots of water
on my glasses.

1. Could the plastic dash panel coming out a little have hurt some wires?
It was the part that surrounds the odometers/gauges and houses
the ac vents on the drivers side. For reference
it is part number 1 on this diagram http://www.swaaggs.com/documents/clusterremove.pdf
Only the left of it came up and i snapped it back in place.

2. Is it normal for exhaust to have a little water spit out every now and again or could there be something wrong here?

Trying to figure out if this smell was something, or nothing.
Thanks

Couldn't say 100% on the first question (but if everything is working it should be fine -- if you did short a wire you'd blow a fuse so check your panel).

On your second question, yep. Totally normal. Not sure the reason behind the formation of the water, but if you watch I'm sure you can catch a car in the morning rush literally dripping water on a cold morning. The pipes are cool enough to act as a condenser for water.

You're fine unless something stops working, then there is nothing to worry about

That's what I figured.
Just being safe though.

I guess as ****load of spray paint in a closed garage can make an odd smell
when you crank up the engine lol.

I had to re sand the vents after my first try because I coated it too thick.
Basically I went through almost a full 12oz. can in a closed garage.

It was too damn cold and WINDY to open it up while painting.

On a side note I am really stoked.
Got these vents done... have my custom plates ordered.
Black and white plates that read: MSLCAR

Have the rear badge being redone to black.
Have custom airbrushed plenum cover, fuel rails, and
air intake inlet tube. Also a BMR strut tower brace to go over it just
to top off the look.

Should look sweet once it's all done.

As for the smell I think it's the paint you used, all wires behind dash are tied together in a harness and there are no wires going to vents or gauge bezels. Those bezels need to be removed when the dealer installs interior dash upgrades so there is nothing around there that can be pinched. So if it only came out a bit like you say there shouldn't be a problem.
As for the water..... The byproduct from an internal combustion engine are hydro carbons and monoxides, when an engine is running well they mix together by the temperature and make H2O's (water)

Don't sniff paint. You probably hallucinated the entire episode.

I probably did.

I thought a little green man was trying to give me advice on my paint
technique and spray form.

He was an annoying little bastard until I told him to shut up and he had four rows of teeth he
glared at me like the Sleestak in Land of The Lost.

Luckily Chaka rolled in to my rescue right as he was about to abduct me.
Only bad thing was after he tried to pressure me into making sweet love with him.
I had to explain to him that we were both of the male origin and that we were
also of two different species so that would be frowned upon.

That call that "huffing"...........ya paint sniffer stoner!!! I tried painting my rims in my closed garage on a windy day......wow, I gave up fast, way too many fumes.

Always normal to spit out droplets in the exhaust. Now go drive your car, do a big burnout and smile. Your car is fine. Start planning your supercharger install!! LOL
