Default Vortech V3/non-intercooled install thread...

Here is my unoffical Vortech V3 non-intercooled kit install.

So simple, anyone could do it.

Piece of cake! The easiest 100-120whp bolt on I have ever done!!

Pulley system..

Here's where the pulley extension goes when the time comes. Bolt/spacers go there, I believe the torque specs were 25 lbs. Might want to double check that, been awhile since I did this install.

1/2 breaker bar comes in handy. Make sure it sits flush and not cocked in anyway, it WILL break if you're not careful. (POS)

The die grinder is your best friend in this project!!!!

**lulz, you're actually supposed to just take it out, NOT cut it.. found that out later!
Doh!

Driver side Valve cover modified and upper bolt cut and sanded down for easy removal.

Fuuggggg!!!.. not supposed to look like that~ it's actually supposed to be removed. I ended up pulling the alt and then taking out the bolt, no biggie. I also used an air tool to blow out all that crap. You can cover the pulley with a rag if you want. Wuss.. jk

Bolt head shaved down for easy removal.

That clearance on the valve cover is VERY PRECISE.. cut and cut some more, there is NO space between that and the belt being driven right past it on the supercharger unit/pulley.

Lower bolt by the AC compressor, cut and shaved down for easy removal.. be careful not to nick the compressor pulley. You can't see it but the cam position sensor is pulled back and out of the way, be careful not to accidently cut those wires!

The entire set up, ready for the blower.

Remember to take out that alternator bolt, as well as that bolt by the driver side valve cover and the one by the AC compressor.

IAT sensor relocate, and plenium, passenger side. Used a drill bit, drill and tap.. forgot the size.
Used thread lock to seal. Crimped, soldered yadda yadda for the wires..
Crumpled up paper towels were used to keep the shavings from entering the intake.

Saleen charge motion delete plates installed, and well worth the $150.

Be careful with removing/reinstalling the rubber gaskets.

Charge motion plates.. wow.. how can they NOT be restrictive? rofl

The plates alone felt pretty solid, even with the flaps open they felt restrictive..

And here is the blower.. would have taken more pics but I didn't have an extra hand. Tape was on the intake inlet but taken off already, the fuel rail was installed and moved to the side.. very last minute pic..

That hose off the passenger side was a little tight so I made an extension on it (leading to CAI elbow).

You can see the bypass valve and hoses under the TB inlet, which was NOT in the install guide visually, but was described.

And there you have it!.. sure, not the best step by step install thread, but you get the idea.

Its very self-explanatory and easy to follow once you get through a few pages. The little washer on the alt bolt through the supercharger unit idler is a real biatch to get to so be warned. You can probably just super glue it there and it'll stay put.

ROFL.. yeah, I know.. more like a thread of what NOTto do, and my sloppy work area lulz

You can plainly see now how easy it is to bolt on/removal this kit.. even with the intercooler in place in the future, it will only take abuot an hour including the fuel rail, CAI and capping off the intercooler..

You should post another thread when you get your intercooler so I know what NOT to do when I install mine.

You could become like an opposite TacoBill®.

^^
lol nah, I learned from my mistakes

This time, I'll know to not rush the install or go too quickly. I did so much research on the install that when it was time to actually do it, I wizzed on through it so quickly I wasn't as cautious as I would have been being the first time around..

Thats hilarious!!

I'll give u a thumbs up b/c i wouldnt even attempt it unless i had someone there that knew a bit more about it than I did. It looks time consuming for a guy that has never done it before.

Congrats

I think u have it removed now though right. So when u put it back on are u going to install the intercooler

lol well, I did study the manual from head to toe about two months in advance... when it was time to put it on, I thought I was hot shiet.

for some reason, I had thought the alternator bolt needed to be cut in order for the clearance of the blower housing. Obviously, when it was time to put the housing on, there was a bolt and screw that goes there! rofl Doh!

Its actually is time comsuming but nothing terribly difficult. I did not show the trimming of the coolant hoses or the power steering relocation, only because they weren't too terribly exciting nor inspiring. I think that took the longest, only because of dealing with the fluids. The MAF/IAT wires were a pain, only because of having to cut and solder so many them (okay, just 10). The BAP was a breeze. I was gonna take a pic of the housing and belt being routed, but like I said.. I had no free hands lulz.

Its pretty involving, but nothing too crazy.

Blower is off now for the winter, awaiting the intercooler in March!

The cool thing about that is when I have to take out the intercooler piping, all I have to do is take off the bottom splash gaurd to access the hot/cold pipes. Cap off the ends, and I'm done.

What tuning/injector size do you run with the blower off?
