Finally a REAL mod
So, I finally got my first mod installed. C&L intake with Brenspeed tunes... running on 91. Love it! Noticed a definite gain. Is there much difference between 91 and 93 as far as performance, or what is the difference? I am definitely still learning.
Install of the cai was simple enough and gave me a strong appetite to continue improvements. I've had numerous nice vehicles, but this is the only one I've ever added any performance mods to. The mod bug has definitely bitten me.
Appearance mods are coming along nicely as well. Found some center caps that make my wheels look good, at least to me. Next order of business is new rear tires. Looking at Michelin sports as I just had two new Michelins put on. Going to change them from the rear to the front when I get the new ones.
Thanks to everyone on the forum for the advice. I am sure I will be asking for more in the near future.

I've always found the 91 tunes to feel stronger than the 93s. I experienced this on a 2007 auto and a 2009 manual. The same held true on the 2009 after the Vortech install... the Brenspeed 91 tune felt better than the 93. Just because the octane number is "higher", doesn't mean its "better" per se.
To answer your question, I always felt the 91 tunes had more "grunt", while the 93s seemed to favor top end... YMMV

Each tune has it's own characteristics. I find my 93 tune pulls harder in the upper RPM band and is a bit of a dog in the lower range. Since I don't race, my tune of choice is my 89 tune which really pulls harder in the lower range. My 87 tune kicks azz over the stock tune and I keep it handy for those times I couldn't get anything higher than 87. I doubt you feel much diff in POWER between your 91 and 93; probably more diff in the characteristics.

That is correct. I used to put 93 into my supercharged GT running a 91 tune. I did that because at the time I was living in Dallas and it was hot as living hell. I figured the extra 2 points of octane were a little insurance policy against a tank of "bad gas" in the high heat combined with the supercharger...

Went down to the 89 tune instead of 91. It is amazing the difference I noticed. could somebody explain why please? I am by no means a plethora of knowledge about cars but hope to be some day. So if any of you knowledge buffs could share the wealth it would be greatly appreciated.
