Angry HELP! Blown Motor

I have a 2005 GT that had the engine light go on. I took the car in and the dealer told me that the engine is basically blown and I need a new one. Has anyone else had this issue? She has 55K miles with mostly highway driving.

Welcome to the board!

There was another guy who blew his engine up too, I think his was an '06.
Unfortunately, the only way to address a blown engine is to pull it and totally replace it.
Alternatively, if the block is still serviceable, you can rip out all the innards and totally replace everything (total rebuilt, complete overhaul).

But the benefit of doing an engine rebuild is you can put in all the performance stuff that can take some serious punishment. I'm talking about forged conrods, forged pistons with the right compression ratio for supercharging or turbocharging, so forth and so on.

So that's it? It was a "blown engine sir, sorry" and no other information whatsoever?

Yeah sounds very strange, I'd like to know also being you didn't mention any noises or loss of power.

Thanks for getting back to me - I was told that the left cam and timing chain are where the issue has started. They did say that I could have it completely taken down and replace left and right timing chains and cams and "flush out" everything else. They said that they had only done this twice and the first one lasted 3 months and the second lasted for 9. Their answer is a new motor for $7K or a bone yard for $5K. So far, she runs fine when on a highway, but if she idles below 500 she loses power. I have been able to restart and rev the engine in neutral until the light changes ,l but I do not know how long this can last. I decided to post on this board because I was afraid they were jerking me around because I am a female and I love my pony and do not want to part with her!!!
