No.............. those are not the best things to do to a new car.
Just because they are STEP number 1 usually (that or gears), does NOT mean they are the best thing to do to a car.
The reason they are step 1 is that you have the tuner to store
tunes for later mods... and the CAI really is just a little icing because
you can get them as a package.
I don't understand where your logic comes from that 15-25hp in most cases is the BEST thing
you can do for your car.

Gears...are not anything to "try" to do...at least I would not...find a reputable shop and have them do it...here in S.E. Mich there is a good shop and they are about $500 installed (with gears) at Walsh Motorsports....
I have been in cars that had them done there and ther is no whine or issues....

both are 4x4 shops, but gear swaps are the same. Especially since our 8.8 axle is the same one in the 80's-2003 F-150, and 2004-2011 F-150 with 4.6 motor.
They quoted me $700 per axle with my old truck if they supply all parts. Said $300 for install only if I give them parts.
with you being out here on the rock, I suggest you grab 4.10 gears. With all of the traffic, the 4.10's will really help you get the down low performance. And if you do get on the highway, you won't notice the 2-300 higher RPM. Win Win IMO

call up Maui Offroad or 4WheelParts.
