I replaced the stock gas cap on my 07 GT a year ago, but I changed my mind and decided to put it back. But now the "keeper", I.E., the "cord" that keeps you from losing it, doesn't seem to fit right. Where does it attach? I used a hole that is to the right of the center of the gas door, but now the keeper sometimes doesn't get out of the way when I close the door.

 

Sometimes you have to fiddle with the lanyard so the door closes all the way. I just push the cord towards the rear of the car so the ring around the cap turns a bit CCW and then it closes fine.
